Goal: Build strong technical and conceptual skills in various media.
Focus Area:
- Drawing from Observation: Still life, figure drawing, landscapes, perspective
- Painting Techniques: Acrylics, watercolor, oil (or mediums based on access)
- Art Elements & Principles: Line, form, color theory, composition
- Creative Exercises: Prompts to spark conceptual thinking and originality
Learning Outcome:
- A polished art portfolio of 4 - 5 pieces over 9 sessions.
- A strong artist statement
- Skills in self-directed art making and visual storytelling
- Exposure to critique culture and college-level expectations
- Confidence in articulating artistic goals and creative choices
With an objective to plant the seeds of creativity, students will receive high-quality art instruction in a warm and welcoming environment. Suitable for ages 12 + youths and for portfolio preparation for college applications. Each class is for 2 hours and includes all materials. We will be covering a wide range of techniques in a variety of mediums for portfolio development classes.
